Cue the confetti, it’s the one year anniversary of the Daikin Lab!

In October of 2022, we unveiled the Daikin Lab at our state-of-the-art technology center, serving as a training hub for HVAC-R instructors from other locals in the region. In collaboration between the United Association and Daikin, the lab allows instructors to train on the latest Daikin equipment and appliances, by simulating real life situations that they may see on a job site with this popular brand. While a lot of programs use simulations, every piece of equipment is fully-functional in the lab, so that every apprentice is able to be successful outside of the program and take this training to their local union.

“When our members are trained, they are working..” said Director of HVAC-R training, Brad Tisdale, when asked about the bigger picture behind the Daikin Lab. “The idea behind it is to train other UA instructors to go back to their home locals, and train their instructors. So that we can pass the knowledge and equipment out to all of our home locals, so they can properly service, maintain, and install the equipment”.

Daikin is a leading innovator and provider of advanced, high-quality air conditioning solutions for residential, commercial, and industrial applications, so this addition to our facility further solidifies Local 449 as a hub for HVAC-R training for the entire region.
