We would like to wish everyone a Happy Labor Day! In the video above, there are a few highlights from the Pittsburgh Parade and subsequent celebration.

The Pittsburgh Labor Day Parade was held at 10 AM September 5, 2022. With over 100,000 people gathered together – even in the rain. It is one of the largest and oldest Labor Day parades in the United States with approximately 200 unions marching through Downtown Pittsburgh to show their support for the “union way of life,” e.g., fair wage rates and the ability to retire with dignity. Speakers included Pennsylvania gubernatorial candidate and Attorney General Josh Shapiro and his running mate lieutenant governor, Austin Davis.

After the parade, members and apprentices joined to celebrate at the new Events Center in Harmony, PA. The Events Center is part of the new Union Hall and Technology Training Center. There was great food from the inhouse catering, a live band, as well as various kids’ activities such as face painting, giant Jenga, and other games.

Special guests included U.S. senate candidate, John Fetterman, who spoke about his continued advocacy for issues important to labor unions.

Andrew Beardsley and Bill Yocum dedicated a plaque honoring the union and its members.
