Last week, Local 449 Director of HVAC-R Training, Brad Tisdale, visited Victory Energy Boilers in Indiana, Pennsylvania, to check out the new boiler that will soon be installed at the Steamfitters Technology Center.
This new boiler will be the perfect centerpiece for the new Steam Lab currently under construction at the training center.
“This is a huge addition to our technology center,” said Tisdale. “Not many apprentices have this type of resource. They’ll be able to train on a live, functioning boiler in the comfort of our training center.”
Local 449 stays ahead of the curve when it comes to technology in the industry. The goal is to provide apprentices with a top-tier education by simulating real-world situations they will face on the job. In Local 449’s program, students can become experts on the equipment and best practices because they train on live-fire machines.
The new boiler, along with the construction of the Steam Lab, comes after the addition of a rooftop HVAC-R lab last year. Local 449 will also soon be breaking ground on a second, smaller training facility on the Harmony, PA campus.
The Steamfitters take great pride in having one of the top training centers in the region, and maintain this reputation by continually updating and expanding hands-on training labs and education resources.
