The doors of the Steamfitters Technology Center are always open to groups interested in touring the state-of-the-art facility and discovering our acclaimed learning opportunities.
Our expert trainers can walk groups through the facility to learn about the two paths offered in our apprenticeship program: HVAC-R and the Building Trades. Both learning pathways are extremely hands-on, and having kids see those opportunities in action allows them to better understand what it means to be a Steamfitter.

Showing students that there are more options for them than just traditional college pathways is important because everyone has different skills and deserves to find a path that calls them. Last month, CNX, a natural gas company, brought groups of high school students to tour the center and see our modern technology up close.
“The way the work’s gonna go with data centers and natural gas and generating electricity, we’re gonna need more Steamfitters and more building trades,” said Ken Broadbent, Business Manager at Local 449. “If we can get high schools to tour our school and find out about our program and what a Steamfitter does in a five-year apprenticeship, then we are going to be able to recruit more people to learn to be a Steamfitter.”
Local 449 is always welcoming high school, trade school, and CTC students to come and see what the Steamfitters are all about. Touring the facility, they can first-hand see the technology we have available and the learning we can provide.
