Local 449 takes pride in all of our training programs, especially our veteran HVACR training. A career as a Steamfitter can be a natural next step for veterans after their military service because we provide all of the tools needed to have a successful career after serving.
When asked about the veteran training program, instructor and Navy Veteran Josh Wasielewski said, “You don’t have to know anything about the HVAC-R field. Starting day one we’re going to train you, and then all you have to bring is that honor, courage and commitment attitude and you’ll do great.”
Josh also took some time to talk about the opportunities that veterans have after successfully completing the program. “Joining local 449 offers great opportunities for veterans. There are so many paths that can be taken. You can be a field service tech, supervisor, estimator, instructor, business agent, and the list goes on. Plus you can utilize your GI Bill starting year one and that’s a big deal!”
Veterans HVACR training is a 10-week program that will begin on April 1st and end on June 7th. The hours are 7am to 3:30pm, and you must be a veteran to enter the program. The veterans HVACR offers the same training as the Mechanical Equipment Service workers in the Apprenticeship AST classes.
