While Labor Day may be the first holiday that comes to mind when thinking about the steamfitters, Local 449 wants to celebrate and share Memorial Day’s special significance for its members. Memorial Day is much more than just a calendar marker for pool openings and cookouts, but serves to remind us Americans of those who lost their lives serving our country.

There are many veterans working in the trades today. Most know and hold in their memories a soldier who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country, and keeping their memory is what Memorial Day is all about.

When celebrating Memorial Day, remember to thank veterans for their service, recognize the sacrifices made by those who have passed, and don’t let politics stop you from observing this American holiday.
