Local 449 Approves New Training Facility

In February, Local 449 Steamfitters members voted to approve the construction of a new steamfitters training facility on the Steamfitters campus in Harmony, Pennsylvania.

The original 80,000-square-foot center opened ten years ago. Since then, constant upgrades have pushed the technology center beyond its current capacity.

The new steamfitters training facility will expand classrooms, chiller labs, and hands-on apprenticeship training opportunities for future members.

The expansion will include a new 35,000-square-foot building with chiller labs and classrooms. This added space will strengthen apprentice skills through more hands-on training.

As new data centers and electric generating plants pop up, the current demand for Steamfitters in the region has gone up, and The second center will allow Local 449 to train more students.
