April is designated as National Welding month, but we celebrate the work of a welder every single day of the year. At Local 449, our Building Trades Program provides training on welding in many different positions on plate and pipe using stick, tig, and mig process. The goal in this initial 18-week training course is for our Steamfitters to go through extensive hands-on training with our world-class instructors to make sure they’re prepared to overcome any obstacle they encounter once they get into the field. Long after their early apprentice days, Local 449 welders continue learning and enhancing their skills. As our trade evolves, we offer courses to help our members to stay up to date with the latest technology in the industry. So, whenever you see that black and yellow 449 logo on a welder’s PPE, you know that that job is in good hands.
