The Local 449 Steamfitters will be at the Builders Guild of Western Pennsylvania Build On event on October 22 and 23 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center in Downtown.
Alongside over 30 construction unions, the Steamfitters will have a booth, manned by our union leadership and instructors, to speak with young students who are interested in the trades or want to learn more about what we do.
The building and construction industry is rapidly growing in Western Pennsylvania, offering high compensation rates and comprehensive benefits and providing rewarding and life-changing careers.
Career fairs are still a valuable asset, even in our increasingly digital world. With hands-on recruiting, we can have face-to-face interaction, allowing questions to be answered directly by experts in our trade.
“It’s nice to get out in the community and spread the word about these amazing opportunities that Local 449 has and that all Western PA trade unions have,” said Director of Building Trades Training Tom Doran, who will be tabling at the event.
The 22nd invites all middle schoolers in grades 5-8, and the 23rd welcomes high schoolers in grades 9-12. This is an amazing opportunity for the Steamfitters and other trade unions in the region to engage with future members of our industry.
