In February, Local 449 Steamfitters members voted to approve the construction of another training center on the Steamfitters campus in Harmony, Pennsylvania.
Ten years after the original 80,000-square-foot center was built, there is no longer space to accommodate the ever-growing technology center due to constant upgrades.

Just last year, the Steamfitters Training Center added a mezzanine, which created a second level for a new rooftop unit training lab, along with other technology updates.
The new expansion will feature a 35,000-square-foot building filled with chiller labs and classrooms, enhancing training resources and expanding hands-on opportunities to strengthen apprentice skills.
As new data centers and electric generating plants pop up, the current demand for Steamfitters in the region has gone up, and the second center will allow more students to be trained.

At Local 449, we’re always evolving and finding new ways to provide top-notch training for our apprentices to give them a leg up in the field. The construction of a second building will allow for more room and resources.
