Last week, Local 449 and the MCA of Western PA welcomed Brian Hughes, President of the Mechanical Contractors Association of America, to the Steamfitters Technology Center.
“I would like to thank Ken Broadbent and Rege Claus from the MCA of Western PA for inviting me to Pittsburgh to tour this great facility. This is one of the crown jewels of the UA educational program, and I’m honored to be here,” said Hughes.

Hughes visited the Steamfitters Technology Center on Monday, October 27th, to address contractors from across the region and to tour Local 449’s state-of-the-art training facility. Business Manager Ken Broadbent is always eager to showcase the value Local 449 brings to its mechanical contractors.
“Our contractors are the ones responsible for employing our Steamfitters. We want to ensure we maintain strong relationships and continue to evolve our education program to meet their needs,” said Broadbent.
Hughes’ visit was an important occasion for the Steamfitters. As President of the MCAA, his role is to support local organizations across the country and share best practices in training and education.
“It is a true honor and privilege to have Brian visit the Steamfitters Training Facility. His visit will help spread the word about the great work we’re doing here in Western Pennsylvania, especially as it pertains to training,” said Rege Claus, Director of the MCA of Western PA.
The Steamfitters’ world-class Training Center in Harmony, PA continues to serve as an elite hub for education in the trades. As technology in the industry evolves, so does the Steamfitters training. The mission is always to provide contractors with the highly skilled workforce they need and deserve.
