Qualified Rigger/Signal Person  NEW
[4/22/2013] - We will be holding a qualified rigger/signal person training class on the following Saturdays: May 18th & June 15th. The class will be an eight hour class from 7:30am - 3:30pm, Room 201. Lunch will be provided. This class will include review of crane signals, crane limitations, qualified person requirements, signaling practice scenarios, inspections of rigging before use, hitch configuration, capacities, basic knots, and recognizing association hazard. Qualified Rigger/Signal Person Cards will be issued after course completion. Meets OSHA 29 CFR Part 1926.1430 requirements. (This course is open to any UA member with the exception of first year apprentices.) You MUST call the Technology Center to register.

UPMC ICRA 8 Awareness Seminar NEW
[4/22/2013] - We will be holding Infections Control Risk Assessment Classes on the following days:
Monday and Wednesday evening, May 13th and 15th ~ 5:30pm - 9:30pm; and
Tuesday and Thursday evening, June 11th and 13th ~ 5:30pm - 9:30pm
(You must attend BOTH evenings in whichever month you choose) ~ Steamfitters Technology Center Room 204, Instructor Sean George ~ This course will be a requirement for any tradesman working in a UPMC facility. It will instruct the tradesman how to recognize and minimize potential life threatening infection sources to patients through proper work habits. This class is open to any UA Member. Class space is limited and you must pre-register by calling the Steamfitters Technology Center.

HVAC STAR Recertification
[2/20/2013] - The NITC now requires a proctored 40 question recertification exam. We will be scheduling these exam dates in the future. Please check back for testing dates. Please call the training center to register to recertify your STAR certification. more

Med Gas Installer Update
[2/20/2013] - The NITC has completed the updates for the Medical Gas Installer Testing. You will be receiving information from the Technology Center in the mail when the update classes will be scheduled for you. more

Upcoming Classes
[2/20/2013] - There will be an OSHA 10/30 Class and a CFC Prep Class and Exam however the dates have not yet been scheduled. Please check back on the website in the near future for these dates. more

HVAC STAR Exam
[2/19/2013] - The prep class for the HVAC STAR Exam will begin on April 30th. The date for the HVAC STAR Exam is May 21st. You must register with the Technology Center prior to May 1st if you are interested in taking this exam. more
